|

|
Total Time: 5 hours 53 minutes, total
dist: 35.84 nm |
|
6-1-11: Got an early start today.
As we were leaving the mooring field, we heard someone whistling - it
was Sea Cat waving goodbye from his balcony. We have a light wind
ride in the lee of Dominica, followed by 20 knots in open water, then
again light and variable in the lee of Martinique. Tried to fish
for the last hour or so (it was too bouncy to deal with in open water),
but no luck today. We are anchored just off the town dock.
Dropped the hook in about 20 feet of water and dropped back to around 70
feet. Martinique is very steep to. |
6-2-11
St. Pierre - Schoelcher, Martinique Crew: Gregg, Jen,
Quinn
0930 - underway |
14°44.561'N,
61°10.682'W |
|
1203 - anchor down at Schoelcher |
14°36.756'N,
61°06.136'W |
|
Total Time: 2 hours 33 minutes, total
dist: 10.33 nm |
|
6-2-11: Went into St. Pierre this
morning in search of breakfast and in visit the market. Everything
was closed - a holiday maybe? There were only a couple vendors at
the market, but we were able to buy some tomatoes and cucumbers.
There wasn't much wind for the trip to Schoelcher until the very end and
then it was on the nose. At least it was a smooth ride in the lee
of Martinique. |
6-4-11
Schoelcher - Ste. Anne, Martinique Crew: Gregg, Jen,
Quinn
0652 - underway |
14°36.754'N,
61°06.133'W |
|
1059 - anchor down at Ste. Anne |
14°25.958'N,
60°53.263'W |
|
Total Time: 4 hours 7 minutes, total
dist: 22.6 nm |
|
6-4-11: A mostly pleasant motor
this morning, except for a short time where the wind was against the
current producing lumpy seas. It smoothed out after about an hour.
Tried again to fish with no success. |
6-6-11
Ste. Anne, Martinique - Rodney Bay, St. Lucia Crew: Gregg, Jen,
Quinn
0738 - underway |
14°25.942'N,
60°53.257'W |
|
1120 - docked at Rodney Bay Marina,
Rodney Bay, St. Lucia |
14°04.534'N,
60°56.962'W |
|
Total Time: 3 hours 42minutes, total
dist: 23.67 nm |
|
6-6-11: Most of the trip we had
fairly light to moderate winds, but we kept the main double reefed
because of a lot of weather/squall-like activity in the area. We
decided it would be best to move as quickly across the channel as
possible to limit exposure to potentially severe weather, so we kept
both engines running and averaged around 7 knots. |
6-8-11
Rodney Bay - Soufriere, St. Lucia Crew: Gregg, Jen,
Quinn
0855 - underway |
14°04.534'N,
60°56.960'W |
|
1105 - moored at Soufriere, St. Lucia |
13°51.159'N,
61°03.603'W |
|
Total Time: 3 hours 5 minutes, total
dist: 17.96 nm |
|
6-8-11: We are moored just off town
this time in preparation for heading south to Bequia. We wanted to
be somewhere we didn't have to tie a stern line to a tree on shore
because we are planning a 3 am departure from Soufriere for the 55 nm
trip. |
6-10-11
Soufriere, St. Lucia - Port Elizabeth, Bequia Crew: Gregg, Jen,
Quinn
0404 - underway |
13°51.151'N,
61°03.615'W |
|
1324 - moored at Admiralty Bay, Port
Elizabeth, Bequia |
13°00.506'N,
61°14.352'W |
|
Total Time: 9 hours 20 minutes, total
dist: 54.22 nm |
|
6-10-11: We said goodbye to the
Pitons in the dark, but were glad to get underway early. When we
arrived in Bequia, we were approached by racing & competing boat
vendors. We found out that our usual boat vendor, "African", had
moved on to Grenada, so we went with "Blue Sky". This place is
nearly empty compared to how it was last time we were here. Oceana
arrived about an hour after we got in and is moored behind us. |
6-12-11
Port Elizabeth, Bequia - Tobago Cays Crew: Gregg, Jen,
Quinn
0750 - underway |
13°00.532'N,
61°14.339'W |
|
1217 - anchored at Tobago Cays |
12°37.804'N,
61°21.471'W |
|
Total Time: 4 hours 27 minutes, total
dist: 26.87 nm |
|
6-12-11: A bouncy
ride from Bequia today. No sooner dig we get settled on the anchor
than a boat vendor, Carlos, showed up with some freshly caught yellow
fin tuna. So we bought one of those. He was followed quickly
by Walter, who took our order for baguette and croissants for tomorrow.
It is quite rolly here - may only spend one night. |
6-13-11
Tobago Cays - Chatham Bay, Union Island Crew: Gregg, Jen,
Quinn
1135 - underway |
12°37.814'N,
61°21.467'W |
|
1400 - anchored at Chatham Bay |
12°36.104'N,
61°27.007'W |
|
Total Time: 2 hours 25 minutes, total
dist: 10 nm |
|
6-13-11: We were
originally heading for Clifton, but the anchorage there was quite
crowded. We moved on to Frigate Island, but the anchorage there
was extremely rolly. We finally ended up at Chatham Bay, which was
flat calm and pretty empty. |
6-14-11
Chatham Bay, Union Island - Hillsborough, Carriacou Crew: Gregg, Jen,
Quinn
1020 - underway |
12°36.118'N,
61°26.988'W |
|
1400 - anchored at Hillsborough,
Carriacou |
12°29.180'N,
61°27.549'W |
|
Total Time: 1 hours 28 minutes, total
dist: 7.944 nm |
|
6-14-11: A short trip
from Union Island after Gregg and John DINGHIED around to Clifton to
clear customs (apparently, quite a wild ride). We didn't sail but
ran the engines and made water. Anther hard bottom here.
Backed down at 2000 rpm to set anchor. |
6-15-11
Hillsborough - Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou Crew: Gregg, Jen,
Quinn
1020 - underway |
12°29.198'N,
61°27.556'W |
|
1400 - moored at Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou |
12°27.243'N,
61°29.213'W |
|
Total Time: 1 hours 12 minutes, total
dist: 4.755 nm |
6-16-11
Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou - St. George's, Grenada Crew: Gregg, Jen,
Quinn
0608 - underway |
12°27.340'N,
61°29.215'W |
|
1250 - med-moored at Port Louis Marina,
St. George, Grenada |
12°02.622'N,
61°44.981'W |
|
Total Time: 4 hours 55 minutes, total
dist: 32.67 nm |
|
6-16-11: We got docked originally
at 1103. The total time does not reflect the nearly two hours we
spent on that first dock waiting for our spot to be ready. Docking
was quite a process -
we had three dockhands
assisting us. We didn't have
any lines long enough to reach the mooring ball so we had to string 2
lines together for each bow line. We finally got docked at 1250,
but it's taken us over an hour to get settled in for the season.
