5-21-11:  We spent probably nearly an hour in the pouring rain trying to find a big enough spot for both us and Ocean to drop anchor... to no avail.  We ended up near Pain de Sucre (which is a very small anchorage), and just as Oceana was getting ready to drop, another boat came in and dropped right in front of them, so they went over to Iles Cabrit where there are new, free moorings.
5-22-11
Pain de Sucre - îlet Cabrit, îles Des Saintes
Crew: Gregg, Jen, Quinn
1035 - underway
15°51.654'N, 61°36.125'W
1250 - anchored at Pain de Sucre, Des Saintes 15°52.407'N, 61°35.823'W
Total time: 15 minutes, Total dist: .883 nm
5-22-11:  Moved over to îlet Cabrit to be closer to Oceana.  The new moorings seem secure, but have huge metal pendants on top.  We were a little concerned with them damaging the gel coat, but we didn't end up having any problems with them.
5-23-11
îlet Cabrit, îles Des Saintes - îlet du Gosier, Guadeloupe
Crew: Gregg, Jen, Quinn
0922 - underway
15°52.407'N, 61°35.811'W
1348 - anchored at îlet du Gosier 16°12.160'N, 61°29.699'W
Total time: 15 minutes, Total dist: .883 nm
5-23-11:  îlet Gosier is a lovely spot behind a small island and a barrier reef.  A little rolly, but not to bad, the anchorage is large and shallow with a sand bottom.  The greatest hazard approaching the anchorage from the west seems to be the large number of local swimmers who swim across the small channel between the mainland and Gosier.  There's a lighthouse on the island that prettier from a distance as it is covered with rust, oxidation and graffiti.  The water is clear and it's a beautiful place for a swim.  There's also a snack bar on the island, but it was closed when we were there.
5-24-11
îlet du Gosier - Point À Pitre, Guadeloupe
Crew: Gregg, Jen, Quinn
1115 - underway
16°12.161'N, 61°29.695'W
1218 - med-moored at Marina Bas du Fort, Point À Pitre 16°13.290'N, 61°31.783'W
Total time: 1 hour 3 minutes, Total dist: 3.826 nm
5-24-11:  Med-mooring is always an adventure.  This time, instead of free-falling the anchor, we tied to a mooring ball (with the help of the dockmaster) as we back in to the dock.  We're going to enjoy a couple days on a dock, then probably move on to Marie Galante.
5-26-11

16°13.291'N, 61°31.782'W
1525 - moored at îlet Cabrit 15°52.446'N, 61°35.810'W
Total time: 4 hours, Total dist: 23.28 nm
5-26-11:  Cleared Guadeloupe customs and moved back to Iles des Saintes to stage for trip to Dominica tomorrow.
5-27-11
îlet Cabrit, îles Des Saintes, Guadeloupe - Roseau, Dominica
Crew: Gregg, Jen, Quinn
0600 - underway
15°52.426'N, 61°35.810'W
1525 - moored at îlet Cabrit 15°17.193'N, 61°22.604'W
Total time: 6 hours 57 minutes, Total dist: 39.35 nm
5-27-11:  Pleasant sail to Dominica today.  We had to motor some, but we had nice winds in the open water between the Saintes and Dominica.  Once we were in the lee of Dominica, however, the winds turned light and variable.  Tried to fish but caught nothing.  Gregg opened his birthday cards underway.  His card from Quinn had wheels on it that you turn to find out your pirate name.  Gregg's is "Dinghy Brinybottom".
