12-6-11:  We are moored just off Sandy Island, where there is supposed to be some nice snorkeling. We need to clear out of Grenada/Carriacou while we're here. Tried to make water, but there is something wrong with the water maker. Heading for Bequia when we leave here to get water and see if we can find the problem. Also having backlighting problems with the chart-plotter at the helm.
12-8-11

12-9-11:  Got into Bequia early, so Gregg spent most of the day working on the water maker. Determined the problem is the high pressure motor controller card, so we have one on the way from California. Going to be here for a while. Also got chart plotter shipped off to Raymarine for repairs.

12-19-11:  It was time to get out of Tobago Cays before a cold front packing 25+ knots of wind arrived. We are comfortably moored close to town in Bequia on one of Phat Shag's moorings. Our friends on Oceana are moored next to us and our friends on Notre Vie are also in the anchorage here. We had originally planned to go to St. Lucia for Christmas, but this cold front has some pretty big winds and the seas right now are over 3 meters, so we decided to wait it out in Bequia and enjoy Christmas here. Phat Shag gave us a weekly rate on the mooring - $35 EC/night.  He also had us move to a mooring he had just inspected since we were planning to be here for a while.
12-27-11
Port Elizabeth, Bequia - Rodney Bay, St. Lucia
Crew: Gregg, Jen, Quinn
0309 - underway
13°00.540.'N, 61°14.266'W
0940 13°26.707'N, 61°03.983'W
1650 - docked at Rodney Bay Marina, St. Lucia 14°04.553'N, 60°57.001'W
Total Time: 12 hours 41 minutes, total dist: 75.39 nm
12-27-11:  We left Bequia bright (OK, not so bright) and early to allow plenty of time to get to Rodney Bay during daylight. We had agreed to decided if we were going to go east or west around St. Vincent once we got out a bit and could get an idea of what the seas would be like. The seas didn't really seem that bad until we were committed to the eastern route. They ended up being around 6-8 foot for a time which made Jen quite unhappy and queasy. Unfortunately, during the worst of the seas, the clips on the bow of the dinghy failed and in trying to drop the dink to tow it, it flipped over. Gregg spent the better part of an hour (while we were not making headway) trying to get it righted. He eventually did and we prepared the dinghy for towing as best we could in the seas we were dealing with. We lost the seat on the dinghy and an oar, but saved everything else. We also managed to not suck any of the 4 lines/chains hanging from the dinghy into the port engine while Gregg was working on getting it righted. Once we arrived in Rodney Bay, Gregg determined that there was sea water in the engine so he's going to have some work to do before we can use it again. We feel very lucky that we didn't lose the dinghy altogether, or either of the davits for that matter. All's well that ends well, right? We'll stay in the marina at least through the New Year.

Ste. Anne - Grande Anse D'Arlet, Martinique
Crew: Gregg, Jen, Quinn
0852 - underway
14°25.933.'N, 60°53.152'W
1154 - Anchored at Grande Anse, Martinique 14°30.290'N, 61°05.365'W
Total Time: 3 hours 2 minutes, total dist: 15.96 nm
1-15-12:  We moved up to Grande Anse to visit with our friend Kathy on her birthday. We're glad we did, but we've found the anchorage crowded and rolly with difficult holding on the northern end of the bay. It took us around 45 minutes to find a spot and get the anchor set. It's generally a deep bay, with sand over rock. The cruising guide says there's a restricted area in the middle of the harbor where you cannot anchor because you'll be in the way of the fishermen, however, it appeared to us that this is largely ignored.
1-16-12

1-16-12:  We had intended to go with Oceana to Trois Ilets, but we went in a poked around a bit and didn't find a spot we were comfortable with, so we moved on to Schoelcher for the night.
1-17-12

1-24-12
Schoelcher - Ste. Pierre, Martinique
Crew: Gregg, Jen, Quinn
0754 - underway
14°36.765'N, 61°06.104'W
1015 - Anchored at Ste. Pierre, Martinique 14°44.448'N, 61°10.658'W
Total Time: 2 hours 21 minutes, total dist: 10.64 nm
1-24-12:  No big gusts like we usually see on this trip in the lee of Martinique, so we motorsailed in the light winds. We anchored twice, moving after a large catamaran left and we decided we liked his spot better. The anchorage was PACKED by the end of the day with boats heading north. One boat anchored so close to us we nearly reach his bow sprit. We could and had to fend him off when he tried to let out more scope. He dumped some chain and it pulled him forward and would have hit us just aft of midships on the starboard side if we hadn't held him off.
